This machine is a refinement of the Monroe PC-1421, with many of the early teething troubles resolved. This machine is a few inches longer than the PC-1421, with the extra space added in front of the keyboard. This was possibly to allow for remote solenoid control of the machine – an option that was never realized in production. The half-cent roundoff option from the PC-1421 is standard equipment on this machine. Although a button is labeled “memory”, it only allows direct access to the control register, so it would be useless for any memory problems with require intermediate multiplication. (Svc Manual)
